Liposuction will remove fat cells permanently to completely change the contour of the body.  The new contour will remain even if weight is gained, so if you had a bulge, it will not recur as a bulge.  Weight gain is entirely possible in the areas treated and the contour may become more irregular with weight gain, but the weight gain is uniform and the bulge does not recur.

Smartlipo is the innovative laser assisted liposuction.  This adds tightening of the skin which enhances the contouring of the area being liposuctioned. In addition, the laser coagulates the vessels which minimizes blood loss.  This procedure is indicated for smaller areas where laser enhanced skin tightening may be beneficial.

Traditional liposuction is the procedure of choice for larger surface areas.  Think about it, do you really want to be awake for 4 hours of pain??  Not only is the patient more comfortable with sedation, also it is easier to manage the fluid and heat loss.

With either liposuction or smartlipo the amount of skin contraction is determined by the patient’s skin quality.
